Spices

Pepper, turmeric, cardamom, and cumin are some examples of Indian spices. Spices are used in different forms: whole, chopped, ground, roasted, sautéed, fried, and as a topping. They blend food to extract the nutrients and bind them in a palatable form.

Spices are the soul & body of Indian cuisine & without them, it's impossible to create the taste, aroma, or flavor of authentic food. Initially, spices were used to retain the freshness of the cooked food, then used as a preservative, later to add taste and flavour to dishes.

Spices and herbs such as black pepper, cinnamon, turmeric, and cardamom have been used by Indians for thousands of years for both culinary and health purposes. Spices indigenous to India (such as cardamom and turmeric) were cultivated as early as the 8th century BC in the gardens of Babylon.
